Brief description
This unique mountain landscape, which spans both sides of the existing national borders of France and Spain, is centered around the peak of Mount Perdu, a calcareous massif that rises to 3352 m. The site, with a total area of 30,639 ha, includes two canyons, the largest and deepest in Europe on the southern flank, the English side and three circuses important on the northern slope, steeper on the French side - Conventional geological landforms. This site is also a pastoral landscape reflecting an agricultural way of life once widespread in the mountainous regions of Europe. It remained unchanged in the twentieth century in one place in the Pyrenees, and has exceptional insights into past European society through its landscape of villages, farms, fields, upland pastures and mountain roads.

The Bridge of Spain is a tourist site Pyrenees National Park and ski resort located in the town of Cauterets (Department Hautes-Pyrenees ) at an altitude of about 1500m.

From the parking area and built the toll, we must continue to walk in the mountains, either way, either by road or looming is letting himself be carried by one of the gondolas of Punt (in winter only ).
The Pont d'Espagne is located exactly at 1496m under which the Gave and Gave the Marcadau Gaube meet. A small restaurant there was installed in front of the waterfall Gaube.
Lake Gaube is a Lake accessible through deck Spain in Valley Cauterets , Hautes-Pyrenees . It is the starting point for many hikes. At an altitude of 1725 m, Lake at the foot of Vignemale (3298m) is famous for its site and its ease of access, the bank left is bordered by the GR10 towards the shelter of Oulettes Gaube. Available in 1 hour walk through pins or lift (270 m climb).

With a depth of 40m, an area of 19 ha and more than 2 km of shoreline, its filling is active and the delta of the Lake located at the mouth of the river Main is responsible for glacial till.

NB Other photos Gaube and the Bridge of Spain are found in the archives of this blog. The interest for me to come back (besides my passion for this valley) was able to see and photograph the lake in winter, hoping it is frozen. But the severe lack of snow was somewhat disappointed that expectation!
