Lagnieu is located on the right bank of the Rhone, in the area of AOC wines of Bugey (appellation Bugey-Roussette Lagnieu). The town is nestled in the foothills of Lower Bugey, in a site surrounded by hills which contrasts with the broad expanses of the plain of the Ain.
